September 9, 2020

Dear MWOA members,

As I write this, I am hoping that you are all healthy and safe.

Wow, what a past six months we have had!! I know that I am missing being able to see you in-person at the annual conference and various section meetings.

I wanted to update you on the discussion the Executive Board had at our last meeting in regards to in- person trainings and section meetings.

The Executive Board decided that all MWOA in-person gatherings will be suspended until at least 2021. We understand that the MPCA is being flexible with CEUs and operator certification renewal. This decision will be reviewed again at our December 2020 meeting.

If you have questions in regards to how the MPCA is handling certification renewal, please read the attached letter, visit the following website and/or contact Tracy Finch (tracy.finch@state.mn.us).

Remember, if all goes as planned, the 2021 MWOA annual conference (July 28-30, 2021) will have 16 CEUs available.

Looking forward to seeing all of you again very soon.

Conference Cancellation Letter from Amy Schreader, MWOA President

Minnesota is recognized as a leader in environmental control and management. It is the association's desire that we serve to help everyone do a better job in protecting our most valuable and renewable resource in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. Our goals are to inform and encourage others to take an active role in water quality issues and to support our members' efforts in improving water quality.

The Minnesota Wastewater Operators Association (MWOA) was created in 1956. This organization shares information with members and nonmembers through conferences, training sessions, and section meetings. The MWOA is an organization of professional operators, laboratory technicians, regulatory agencies, collection system specialists, maintenance personnel, engineers, and marketing consultants from all areas of Minnesota. Every member has a significant role in the success of MWOA. This association also helps state, regional, and local agencies make decisions that have an environmental impact on everyone.
